The Friends of Haiku Stairs (FHS) is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to preserve and maintain the Haiku Stairs for public use. FHS enhances that use by providing educational materials and programs related to the Stairs and Haiku Valley, maintaining the natural habitat associated with the Stairs, and managing use at a level consistent with a wilderness experience and the physical constraints of the Stairs. FHS is governed by a board of directors representing hiking organizations, conservation organizations, and community groups interested in the history, ecology, cultural integrity, and recreational opportunities in Haiku Valley. FHS carries out its mission in cooperation with governmental agencies having responsibilities relating to Haiku Stairs. This mission is funded by public contributions, grants, educational programs and materials, and sale of products associated with the Stairs.
