US Army Pacific in eList Hawaii Directory

U.S. Army, Pacific (USARPAC) commands most Army forces in the Asia-Pacific region with the exception of Korea. The command can trace its lineage to 1910 and has continually evolved to meet mission requirements. USARPAC is headquartered on Fort Shafter, Hawaii, with more than 5,000 Soldiers, civilians, contractors, and military families living and working on the 589-acre post. If USARPAC were a business, it would rank as one of the states largest employers with more than 25,000 full-time Soldiers and civilians employed throughout the Pacific and 9,000 more in the National Guard and Army Reserve. USARPAC is engaged throughout the Asia-Pacific region, providing trained and ready, Active and Reserve Component combat and enabling forces, and playing a key role in U.S. Pacific Commands theater security programs. It has sent peacekeeping forces to the Sinai Peninsula, Haîti, East Timor, and Bosnia. The 196th Infantry Brigade provides training support to National Guard and Army Reserve forces in Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and American Samoa, as well as humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and military support to civil authorities. The 9th Regional Readiness Command commands Army Reserve forces through the region. In October 2000 the headquarters reorganized as a multi-component Army service component command. Since September 11, 2001, USARPAC soldiers have played a vital role in homeland defense for Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, and Japan, as well as in support of operations with our allies elsewhere in the region. In years to come, USARPAC will remain vital to our national security strategy in this dynamic region.
