The firm was founded by John H. Wood, in 1985, as John H. Wood & Co., in Waimea on the island of Hawaii [aka: The Big Island]. Mona Lisa Wood and Stephen J. Tait joined the firm the next year. In 1989, the firm was incorporated under its present name.
