Our goal as an organization is simple: integrate the arts into the lives of our community and kids. For there is power in the arts. They shape our lives, define our humanity and explain our relationships to one another. The arts are profound teachers. One person at a time, they can change the world. And we are proud to play a part. John Seely Brown offers an insight into what it means to learn through the arts: “We participate and therefore we are… We come into existence, we come into being in the world, through participation with others. It is in participation with others that we come to a sense of self.” For 34 years, MAPA has brought performing arts to the people of Maui, and continuously evolves to meet the needs of a dynamic community. Our programs today represent the efforts and experiences of nearly a million people who’ve participated with us over the years.
